God’s Plan. God’s Timing. God’s Process.

Let’s be honest—waiting on God is not always easy. Sometimes His timing feels off. It doesn’t align with our plans, our frustrations, or our deadlines. We say things like, “This would be perfect right now, Lord,” or “If You would just do this one thing, everything would get better.” But more often than not, what we think is best is far from God’s perfect will.
I’ve lived this. My husband and I had reached our breaking point in a tiny two-bedroom apartment that was never meant for a growing family of five. It started as just us, but our babies came—and so did the toys, the noise, the diapers, the bunk beds. We had outgrown the space, physically and mentally. I was tired. He was tired. We were desperate for more room and more peace. So we started looking for a new home.
We found one we thought was perfect. It wasn’t in the greatest neighborhood, but it had a private suite just for us—a little escape from the chaos. We could finally breathe, we thought. We applied. We prayed. And then… we got denied.
Frustrated isn’t even the word. We were heartbroken. We couldn’t understand why God didn’t open that door. It made sense to us. We needed more space. We wanted that house. So, like many of us do when we hear “no,” we tried to kick down the door ourselves. We called around, asked for help, and tried to figure out a way to get that house anyway.
But here’s the truth: Sometimes God’s “no” is actually His love in action. He sees the things we don’t see. He hears the conversations we’ll never hear. He knows the future we can’t predict.
Eventually, we stopped fighting and surrendered the outcome to God. And you know what happened? He led us to the home He had for us all along. Not just a house, but a home. A place of peace. A better neighborhood. A place where we could thrive and raise our children in safety and joy. Looking back now, I thank God that He didn’t answer our prayer the way we asked. If we had gotten that house, we would’ve been miserable. What looked good wasn’t God.
Proverbs 16:9 says, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Isn’t that the truth? We can dream and plan and pray—but it’s God who sees the full picture. And when He tells us “no,” or “not yet,” it’s never to hurt us—it’s to protect us.
Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
When we push ahead of God, we risk stepping outside of His will. When we think we know best, we stop seeking His face. And that’s dangerous ground. We weren’t meant to lead ourselves—we were created to be led by Him.
That experience taught us a powerful lesson. God’s plan will always be better than ours, even when we don’t understand it at the time. His “no” made room for a greater “yes.” His delay wasn’t denial—it was divine protection.
So if you’re in a season of waiting, or dealing with closed doors and disappointment, take heart. Don’t settle for what’s available when God has what’s best. Trust Him with the process. Let Him write the story. His timing may feel inconvenient to you, but it is perfect.
Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
Wait well. Trust big. Don’t force what God is blocking. Because what He has for you is not just good enough—it’s divinely prepared.
Let’s reflect:
Have you ever been disappointed by God’s “no,” only to realize later it was His protection?
In what area of your life do you need to surrender your timeline to God’s?
You can rest knowing this: God’s plan, God’s timing, and God’s process never fail. Even when they don’t make sense—they are working for you, not against you.
